Independence Park and Ambucs Playground for Everyone Danville, IL
Playground for Everyone:
This is a great "destination" playground based on the philosophy and design criteria of the National Center for Boundless Playgrounds. Playspace includes: Alpha Pod (2-5 yrs), Beta Pod (sand play) and Gamma (older children). Based on pictures it is accessible by wheelchair to each "pod" but once there you would need to transfer the child to standing or sitting to play. It seems it's more about being accessible for disabled adults/grandparents so they can take their typical kids to the park.
Independence Park Playground for Everyone:
Lincoln Park- is home of the Ambuc Independence playground. The playground is smaller than Garfield and Winter Park, but still offers a playground for people of all abilities to participate. The park is hidden behind a lot of trees which adds to the fun for everyone. The address is 1000 Logan Avenue Danville, Illinois.
Garfield Park- has a large playground area for children to enjoy during the summer months. The park includes a large pool for both parents and children to cool off from the summer heat. At the park you'll find the Sprayground for everyone. It's a playground that doesn't require any jumping in so all abilities can participate. The Sprayground is completely above ground so children in wheelchairs can participate too. The park is located at 200 Commerce Danville, IL 61832. For more information on pool entrance cost (217) 331-2275
